Welcome to Preciosa!
Welcome to Preciosa Cattery's home on the world wide web. My name is Emily and my husband, Robert, and I are the caretakers of these fabulous felines. Raising these precious babies is a labor of love.
Preciosa is a small in-home cattery located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. We brought our first show cat home in 1999, and registered our cattery name in 2000. The first Preciosa litter was born in February 2001. Preciosa is registered with the Cat Fancier's Association, Inc. All our breeding cats are registered with CFA and we also exhibit them at CFA cat shows.
We started breeding with Himalayans and Persian CPCs. In 2005 we added some Exotics to the mix. Currently, the majority of our kitties are Exotics. The main goals of our breeding program are health, temperament and type. To put this another way, we strive to produce healthy, happy Himmies who conform to the CFA standard.
Our color preference is for the pointed and dilutes. We also have tabbies and bicolors in our Exotic program.
Our kitties have been tested negative for feline leukemia and feline AIDS. We are working with PKD-DNA negative breeding stock. All kitties get routine vet check-ups and vaccinations.
Our cattery is mostly cage-free with a few exceptions such as new mothers with small babies and spraying males. Our boys who have the unfortunate habit of spraying get to come out and play wearing stud pants.
Pet kittens are occasionally available for adoption and are spayed/neutered before leaving our home. Kittens are socialized from an early age. They remain with us until 12-16 weeks of age. At this time they have had 2 sets of vaccinations and a health check by our veterinarian.
We may from time to time have retired breeder/show kitties available to loving homes. These kitties have made a wonderful contribution to our breeding program, and although we love them, and it is hard to let them go, we must make the decision that is best for the cat. Being a spayed/neutered bed buddy in a home where he or she is an only child or part of a smaller family group is often a much better situation.
We are selective about where we place our babies and now require a face to face meeting with the sale of any pet. We appreciate your understanding.
Enjoy your visit!
