Well, I've been meaning to start a blog to keep people updated on goings-on, so here it is. I don't expect that it will be updated frequently or on any sort of regular schedule. I do hope that what I'm writing is interesting and possibly informative.
Spring has sprung and all the girls are ready for kitten season. I'm a nurse and work every other weekend so I try to plan for any litters to be born on my weekend off so I can attend the birth and make sure everything goes well. Some moms are better than others during the whole process and you never know when something could go wrong. I want to be on hand so I can intervene if necessary or get momma to the vet if we need a c-section or something beyond my capabilities.
Our other scheduling restriction is an upcoming vacation my hubby and I have planned. I am very lucky to have a friend who can and actually stay in our house while we are away. It really takes a weight off my shoulders to know that our menagerie will be well-cared for in our absence. Plus, she sends picture updates! Hooray for text messaging :) While I know everyone will be well cared for, I don't want to overburden our helper by adding litters of kittens or close to due pregnant mommas into the mix.
Long story short, I may attempt some breedings soon with planned due date AFTER we return from vacation.
Thanks for reading!
